Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Check that your Heat Pump thermostat is set to HEAT mode and the temperature is set above room temperature
Verify the Heat Pump has power by checking the switch and circuit breaker
Inspect the Heat Pump air filter and replace if dirty as restricted airflow can cause shutdown
Check if the Heat Pump pilot light is on or if ignition system is attempting to fire
Look at the Heat Pump for any error codes displayed on the control board or thermostat
If the Heat Pump still won't produce heat, call for emergency service immediately
